THESE
WOMEN HAVE BEEN TO
THOUSANDS OF BIRTHDAY PARTIES!
That’s why they’re
smiling! No matter what kind of birth you envision for
yourself, the Midwives of North Florida Women’s
Physicians, practicing at North Florida Regional Medical
Center, will help make your experience a joyful and
empowering one.
You’ll meet your new baby in a spacious and comfortable
birthing room at the Women’s Center, with your loved
ones and your midwife by your side. |

During labor your midwife might take a walk with you or
help you into a whirlpool bath, all the while offering
words of encouragement and backrubs when you need it.
You might choose to have pain medication or an epidural
in labor, or you may prefer to use the many techniques
you’ll learn for a totally natural birth experience.
Whatever you envision for your birth experience, you can
feel comfortable knowing that your midwife is fully
supported by the doctors of North Florida Women’s
Physicians, as well as the Neonatology team and Special
Care Nursery staff who are ready to care for your baby
if necessary.

Ann
Marie Fenn, CNM also joined the practice in November
2005. Until then, Ann Marie enjoyed a thriving midwife
practice in Lake City and Live Oak. She was also both
the Prenatal Diagnosis and Obstetric Research
Coordinator as well as serving on the Perinatal
Mortality Counseling Committee at Shands. Ann Marie
very much enjoys obstetric and well-woman care, and has
an interest in bio-identical hormone therapy.
Jane
Houston, CNM joined the practice in November
2005. The first midwife to deliver babies at North
Florida Women’s Center, Jane is also interested in
family planning and well-woman care. Jane is from
Glasgow, Scotland, and became a midwife there in
1992. She came to Florida in 1996 after delivering
babies in Zimbabwe and New Zealand, and has proudly
assisted women in over 1000 births on four continents.
Mary
Ann Smith, CNM, a midwife for 20 years joined the
team this month. The former owner of The Birth Center of
Gainesville, she has had the privilege of welcoming more
than 1000 babies into the world, including several of
her 6 grandchildren. She "attempted" retirement by
concentrating on well woman care, but is thrilled by the
opportunity to once again participate in the midwifery
care of new families with North Florida Women's
Physicians.
Kristin
Stich Foerster, CNM is the senior midwife on the
team. A midwife for more than 30 years, Kristin has
delivered more than 3000 babies at all three of the
Gainesville area hospitals and birth centers. Most
recently she has been providing well-woman care at North
Florida Women’s Physicians. Kristin is delivering
babies again, and is also especially interested in
adolescent gynecology and menopausal women’s health
care.
The Midwives of North
Florida Women’s Physicians are located in Suite 505 in
the Women’s Center, so that they are readily available
to their mothers in labor in the same building. The
midwife practice is located in it’s own private suite,
where all of the midwives work together to make families
feel welcome and comfortable every time they visit.
The
Midwives of North Florida Women’s Physicians are
accepting
new obstetric and well-woman patients now.
